Israel is not restricting humanitarian aid from entering Gaza.

Israel has controlled Gaza's land, air, and sea since 2007, maintaining a blockade that controls every aspect of life for more than two million people, including the movement of people and goods, and access to electricity, fuel, internet, medicine, construction materials, and even the population's calorie intake. The result, even before the genocide, was that around 80% of the population depended on humanitarian aid, nearly half the workforce was unemployed, and around two-thirds of Palestinians lived in poverty. Even the aid allowed in remained far below humanitarian needs, with Gaza receiving well under the roughly 500 aid trucks required each day. After October 2023, that number dropped to around 200 aid trucks on a "good" day, and on some days to fewer than 10.

That Israel is obstructing aid is not disputed. Every UN body and major humanitarian organization has documented and condemned Israel's blockade since 2007, which escalated dramatically after the genocide. In 2024, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to allow humanitarian access to Gaza. Restrictions continued regardless. In 2025, the IPC, the global authority on famine, confirmed famine in Gaza Governorate, attributing it to relentless destruction and severe restrictions on humanitarian access. Even Israel's closest ally, the United States, has formally warned Israel over its restrictions on humanitarian access to Gaza.

"No electricity, no food, no fuel." Those were the words of Israel's "Defense" Minister Yoav Gallant on the third day of the genocide. If this is not proof of deliberate obstruction of humanitarian aid, then what is?

Not only has Israel blocked aid during the genocide, it has systematically dismantled the independent humanitarian infrastructure responsible for delivering it. UN agencies, international humanitarian organizations, grassroots groups, civil defense teams, and campaigns such as the Freedom Flotilla have all been obstructed or attacked. Israel then sought to replace this system with a militarized aid distribution mechanism through the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Its so-called "aid distribution sites" became death traps, with nearly 1,300 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces while trying to access food in just two months during 2025.

The claim diverts attention from what actually matters. The issue is not whether aid is "allowed" in. It is how to end the occupation and blockade, systems that are overwhelmingly recognized as illegal.

As of September 2025, over 440 Palestinians, including 147 children, have died of hunger as a result of Israel's deliberate policy of starvation. And still, the claim being debated is whether Israel is restricting aid, instead of why Palestinians are dependent on aid to begin with. That alone reflects the level of dehumanization Palestinians are facing.
