If Gaza is under siege, how does Hamas still have fuel for rockets?

The question is not why rockets exist. It is why a suffocating blockade that restricts even basic survival is allowed to continue for two decades.

The Gaza siege is not a matter of debate. For two decades, every state, UN body, and major human rights and humanitarian organization has documented and condemned Israel's blockade as collective punishment, which has only intensified since October 2023. In 2024, the International Court of Justice found the plausibility of genocide in Gaza, including in relation to Israel's denial of essential goods and humanitarian aid.

This argument relies on a false moral equivalence between a nuclear-armed settler-colonial state with one of the most advanced militaries in the world, backed by major global powers, and a besieged resistance group with no army, air force, or navy, no access to industrial fuel supply chains, and largely improvised rockets made from basic local materials. These are not comparable actors. One enforces an illegal system of occupation and blockade. The other has the right to resist it.

Even if one accepts the premise of the claim, a blockade is not measured by whether resistance disappears. It is measured by its impact on people. Hospitals shut down, ambulances cannot run, water systems collapse, bakeries close, food production halts, and babies die in incubators. That is the result of Israel's blockade, which has controlled fuel, electricity, water, and movement since 2007 and has been tightened further since 2023 to the point of forced starvation.
